Ding Hao Chinese Restaurant is a fine dining restaurant located in Calamba, Laguna. It is the only restaurant near our home that serves authentic Chinese dishes so we opted to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday here. The restaurant also caters to wedding receptions and seminars.
There are various offerings by the restaurant for set meals that can serve 12 persons. The lowest-priced set meal (excluding 10% service fee) costs PhP 3080 (eight dishes) while the most expensive that I saw costs PhP 8000 (ten dishes). We ordered a nine-course set meal good for 12 persons (PhP 5720).
For appetizer, we had assorted cold cuts that include shrimps, century egg, chicken cuts and something that looked like brown seaweed.
We had sliced chicken and asparagus soup. The drinks were not included in the set meal so we ordered mango juice and watermelon juice.
As main course, we had Peking chicken served in two ways (fried, and sauteed with vegetables). The other main dishes included in the set meal were: prawns with A-1 Sauce; sizzling beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce; fried lapu-lapu with sweet and sour sauce; special birthday noodles; and crabmeat fried rice (which was too dry). Of all the dishes served to us, the most popular were the lapu-lapu and sizzling beef - they were gone from the table in seconds! Here are photos of the main dishes:
The kids especially liked the fried chicken with A-1 sauce (tasted like barbecue sauce). We had to order this extra dish because the kids are allergic to seafood.
We were also served a yummy dimsum that looked like siopao; its filling was the chicken skin from the Peking chicken dish. We had almond with lychees (and nata de coco and crushed ice) for dessert. But we were not able to enjoy this dessert - it just tasted like almond syrup with canned lychees.
If you don't want a set meal, Ding-Hao also serves a la carte meals: hot and sour soup (costs PhP 130 for small and PhP 320 for large) and shredded duck soup (PhP 200 for small and PhP 500 for large); sauteed crab meat with vegetables (PhP 180-PhP 450); roast duckling (PhP 550-PhP 950); beef with brocolli in oyster sauce (PhP 190-PhP 485); and many others.
