Lagos del Sol Resort

Lagos del Sol Resort, nestled at the heart of Lake Caliraya, is located at Bgy. Kanluran Talaongan, Cavinti, Laguna.

Lagos del Sol Resort is a favorite Caliraya destination of our family. It provides a spectacular view of the lake and mountain and its landscaped gardens provide a tranquil atmosphere. Your stay here can be really relaxing especially if you rent one of the lakeside cabanas, as a cabana has a balcony where you can just sit down, relax and enjoy the view. But on our latest stay here, we were able to rent a non-lakeside cabana as all lakeside rooms have been rented out. One of the downsides of the non-lakeside cabana is that we shared the balcony with the occupants of the adjacent room, and only a wall separated the two rooms. So when it was 11 pm and we really wanted to get some rest and sleep, our "neighbors" were still talking loudly and partying the night away. What a waste when we should just have been taking a rest. Anyway, apart from that inconvenience, we were still able to appreciate the surrounding areas of the resort.

One more thing, since Lagos has been around for many years, the rooms were not so new (at least for the cabana; the relatively new hotel type rooms may offer more comfortable amenities). The beds were not soft and the bathroom...well, the bathroom was functional.

For our overnight stay, dinner and breakfast were provided by the resort. The meals were tasty and delicious and there was a variety of dishes to choose from (beef, pork, chicken, fish, vegetables). For breakfast, there were many choices like bread/rice, ham, eggs, boneless bangus, tea/coffee. We had very satisfying meals during our stay there. Good thing meals were included in the resort rates because there are no restaurants or fastfood chains near Lagos del Sol, or near any resort in Caliraya for that matter.

When staying in Caliraya, it is really essential that you confirm meal arrangements because you will have a hard time looking for meals! But you can bring your own snacks and drinks. If I remember correctly, during our stay in Lagos del Sol last year (2009), the overnight rate was PhP 2250 per person including two meals (dinner and breakfast).

Aside from enjoying the view, what else did we do in Lagos del Sol? The resort offers many water activities like jet skiing, sailing, fishing and water skiing but we chose boating because we have younger kids with us. For one hour, we were able to tour around the lake for about PhP 1800/hour. On the tour, we were able to see Caliraya's many islands where many private homes and villas are located.

Some of the houses we saw were owned by an actress, an ambassador, a doctor, and many others. Touring the lake, it was really enticing to buy a private island of our own but of course, the only constraint is money. :) If you want to explore Caliraya, boating is a must activity.

There is also an adult swimming pool and a kiddie pool; beware though, the water is cold! Kids and adults alike can play in the playground set up near the swimming pools. You can also explore the resort's surrounding forest and the Japanese Garden located near the resort.

For corporate events, seminars or conferences, the 22 hotel-type rooms are more suitable. A ballroom can accommodate 200 guests and function rooms can be used for various activities. Audio-video equipment and banquet facilities can also be provided by the resort.

During our latest stay in Lagos, one company was holding its team building activity in the resort. They were engaged in various activities like treasure hunting and looking for clues for their next destination (in reality show fashion).

Given enough time and money, we would really like to spend another night or two at Lagos del Sol. The place has a charm all its own with comfortable accommodations.
