Alabang - Market Basket Modern Dampa

Market Basket Seafood Restaurant

Market Basket Modern Dampa, Festival Mall, Alabang

We always crave for fresh shrimps, crabs, squids and fish so when I found out that there’s a seafood "paluto" restaurant in nearby Alabang, we immediately went there just to try out Market Basket Modern Dampa Restaurant in Festival Mall. The restaurant is located at the new River Park area.

Fresh Shrimps and Fish at Market Basket

At Market Basket, you can choose from an array of fresh seafood displayed in the restaurant and you pay by the gram (for a minimum order of 100 grams). But unlike the typical “dampa,” the restaurant has a clean and fresh interior.

There are four easy steps to follow when ordering your seafood:

Step 1: Choose your seafood
Step 2: Weigh it (or tell the waiter how many grams you will order)
Step 3: Choose your preferred cooking method (Steamed, Deep-fried, Grilled, or Boiled)
Step 4: Choose your sauce
Sauce choices
Steamed: hollandaise, oriental, berlinoise, aioli, garlic, and olive oil

Stuffed Grilled Squid (200 grams)

The Stuffed Grilled Squid was soft and tasty. It was filled with tomatoes and onions and the combination was just right.

Shrimps with Garlic Butter Sauce (200 grams)

The Shrimps were really fresh and delicious. The garlic butter sauce enhanced the flavor profile.

Grilled Salmon at Market Basket

Grilled Salmon (200 grams)

The Grilled Salmon was perfectly cooked - it was tender and moist.

Grilled Pork Spareribs at Market Basket

Grilled Pork Spareribs (200 grams)

We loved the seafood at Market Basket but the Grilled Pork Spareribs was a disappointment. The meat was too tough to chew and the barbecue sauce was sour.

Chop Suey at Market Basket

Chop Suey

To balance our meal, we also ordered a vegetable dish. The Chop Suey was surprisingly delicious. The vegetables were also crisp and cooked just right.

If given the chance, we will come back to Market Basket just for their seafood dishes. I can say that they are really fresh and worth the travel.
